A Nodequeue is used in order to allow you to choose the order of nodes, not necessarily in the order that they were posted but in the order that you want them to appear in. They are most commonly used in blocks on the right hand side, for example in a block that shows periodicals.
The following is an example of how to do this. Go to Content Management, Nodequeue and click on Add nodequeue. In the title field add a title (which will not be shown to the user). In this example choose featured periodicals bd. In Queue size type in the number you want, in this case 5. The Reverse in admin view is to do with the order in which one periodical will drop away when a new one is added - we will look at this later when we are clearer about it! We won't need to use the next two fields, which enable links which appear in the node. Once roles are set up you may want to tick webmasater in a box that would appear here. Under Types select periodical and then click on submit.
Select View so that you can now choose which periodicals to put in this box, in the Select Title to add box. For FAC type in the letter F and a drop down of periodicals beginning with F appear - select For A Change. Add the other 4 periodicals you wish to add and then click on save. Under the heading Operation on the right hand side you can click on the up and down arrows to choose the order in which you want the periodicals to appear in the box. If you add another title the top periodical would drop off.
Now you need to go to Site Building, blocks and in the disabled blocks you will see this block you have created listed, under the heading 'Queue'. Select right sidebar. Configure this block Choose English as the language, then add a title such as Periodicals, then under Custom theme add the style you want such as full border with angled corner (right column). Tick for network members to see it and to show only on selected pages. Click on Save. In this example, the word more appears under the five periodicals, which we don't want to appear. Hover over the block and click on Edit. In the basic settings go to where it has the heading More link: yes, click on this and remove the tick. Save.
